My desk!
My desk in all its messy glory.
Usually it is much neater, but since this is the only computer in the house connected to the internet, I have to share my desk space with my hubby and children. One day when I am wealthy I shall have wireless internet and computers throughout the house for everyone, but until that day, I shall make do with what we have.
You will notice the wallpaper on the screen. It is a knot garden at Sudley Castle. The photo was taken by my husband Mark last year on our trip to England. I change my wallpaper every month are so. You'll also see that I'm chatting to someone on msn instant messenger. That someone is my good friend and fellow writer Kat Taylor. We try to chat every day, if not, we both get withdrawal symptoms.
If you look carefully on the left hand side is a little box with men in it. They are Civil War figures (UK CW that is) that I bought at Sandal Castle in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. One day I will write that civil war novel I've been wanting to do!
In the drawers are my files - publishing contracts and research stuff and my genealogy info.
On the top shelf are my books on stands. The poor things get terribly dusty but I like looking up and seeing them there (the extra copies are behind glass). My books are my inspiration to keep writing, not that I need much inspiration to write. :o) I have to do it or go mad!
Who else has photos of their desk?

My desk is always this messy. I took a picture of it and ran into a glich trying to post it, but I think I'll try again. I love seeing where people work.
I don't have any photos of my desk, but our family is lucky. We have three computers, and mine is sacrosant. If someone else touches it, it automatically shuts down...not!
Can't imagine having the share my computer with all!
That's so cool. I have my laptop in the kitchen and the rest of the house hosts my books.
Great post, Anne! I saw another author's blog where she posted her desk, it looked so pretty, surrounded by books. I wanted to work at her desk. LOL
Yours looks tons better than my messy desk and you know what? I don't even share. :)
I clean mine up in between books. Which means for about a half a minute. :) Every time I see neat desks, it inspires me to do something with mine. Some other time though. :)

Very cool, Anne! Actually, an author friend of mine has tons of author pics on her website. You can find mine on this page:

It looks lovely, Anne. Very inspiring! What a great idea to keep your books displayed like that!

You call that messy Anne?!! My goodness, it's neat compared to mine. I'm in the middle of changing things over from my PC to Mac - same desk - and so the cluttered stuff is even more pronounced.
Love your inspiration. It reminds me that I want to put my board up to place some inspirational pics.
Thanks for sharing your space with us! I love your display of books...I hope to have a display of books like yours some day. (And I like the box of soldiers...what great inspiration!)
Great idea. I think I'll get my daughter to take a pic of my desk tonight. I hate dusting, so I have print outs of my covers on the wall lol Thanks for sharing.
I like the idea of putting your published books there. It's a neat reminder of your accomplishments.
